Watch This Space

We're just about there. The main thing we want to announce is that the tour dirctions are now in their final form and are available for preview. If there are any last minute changes or modifications, this is the place to look. We're looking forward to seeing you.
Registration and Check In

Check-in starts any time after 5:00 - ? on Friday, July 11. Snacks will be available from 5:00 on Friday night. Late check-in will be from 8:00 to 9:00 A.M. on Saturday. There will be a Squire's Meeting at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday and tours will begin leaving camp around 9:15 A.M. See also the Tour Schedules and Directions.
Check-in for each team should be by the team squire or bag. The Invitation Czar will give the person doing the check-in a registration packet and all pre-ordered t-shirts to be handed out to the rest of the team. The squire or bag will pay any balance due for the team at this time.
There will be a signup sheet on the cider house for volunteers for some small jobs, which the ale czars would greatly appreciate your team's help with.
Please park along Rumsey Road. We need to keep Peter's driveway clear. Please do try to park along Peter's side of the road as large farm machines do occasionally need to use the road, and they can't get by otherwise. Remember that despite this being the Hounds' Dog Days Ale, no actual dogs are allowed on the premises. [See "A Word From Our Host"]

Invitations

Dear Ale Attendees,
The Dog Days Ale 2003 is fast approaching and we are so excited to have so many great teams attending this year's ale! We are also glad to welcome back some of our former Hounds!
We need the following information from you by June 13 (or sooner!). Please email the information to the Invitation Czar at Contact Form.
a) The names of everyone who will be attending this year's ale, whether a team member or a guest, and their ages (if under 18).
b) What size t-shirt or tank tops (if any) you would like to order. Team member and graphic artist, Susan Galbraith, has again designed a great T-shirt for the Dog Days Ale themed around the prime number 2003. Join in a Primal Howl and order your t-shirt now. Shirts are available as regular T-shirts and as tank tops. T-shirts are printed front and back in four colors on good quality dark blue cotton in these adult sizes: S/M/L/XL/XXL. Tank tops are black, rather than blue, and only available by preorder. The t-shirt price for this year is $13. The design is available on our website.
c) Names of those with food allergies or other food restrictions. We will do our best to reasonably accommodate these needs and have posted a menu with a partial ingredients list. From that, people can decide if they need to supply their own food.
d) Any tour restrictions (e.g., do you need to tour with a particular team to accommodate cross-dressers?) The tour schedule will be on our website, although probably not until July.
Ale fees, minus the deposit we already received from you, should be submitted by June 17th. As an incentive to you to send your fees by the June 17th deadline, any adult fee received by that time can be reduced to $37 per person. Fees for those under 18 remain the same. Also, although we expect to order some extras, T-shirt availability and cost cannot be guaranteed without a pre-order. Don't miss this t-shirt; the next prime year doesn't arrive until 2011!
The cost of the Ale this year is:
Adults -- If you pay by June 17 (tail wag) -- $37
Adults -- If you pay after June 17 -- $41
Children are priced at $2/year of age up to age 17 (e.g., a 5 year old costs
$10); 18 years of age and older priced as adults.
All registration information and t-shirt pre-orders is due by June 13. All Ale fees, including t-shirt payments, are due by June 17.
Please send the ale fees and t-shirt money as a single team check to:
Karin Howe, Invitation Czar
Email me if you need an address or phone number.
Please make checks out to the Bassett Street Hounds. Thank you.
We look forward to seeing you at the ale!

- Charles River Rapper, Boston, MA
- Heartwood Morris, Ithaca, NY

T-Shirts Pre-Order Is Over

T-shirts for this year's Ale have a rather primal theme -- 2003 is a prime number. See if you can spot all the prime details in our Ale. The deadline for pre-orders was June 17. There will be a limited number available at the Ale itself.
Meals At The Ale

All meals from Friday night's light snack to Sunday lunch are included in the Ale fee. The menus for the weekend will consist of vegetarian (largely ovo-lacto, not vegan) dishes. We have tried to anticipate food allergies and restrictions in menu planning. Look at the menus and make sure that we have addressed your specific need. Let us know your restrictions and we'll make an effort to accommodate you. Be sure that your team's squire reports your food restrictions when submitting the final team roster to the Invitation Czar.
A Word From Our Host

Peter Hoover is graciously providing almost complete run of his property. We will be camping on his land. We will erect a large tent and will set up tables and chairs for meals and as a place to congregate should there be rain. We have use of an improved cooking facility built into Peter's cider house and have shifted meal preparation, serving, and what-not away from the front porch area of the house. Ale participants may use Peter's sauna in evening along with its woodstove-fired shower. Peter's clean pond is available for on-site swimming. Such luxury!
However, some restrictions do apply. Peter is asking the following of all Ale participants.
- NO dogs or cats. No exceptions.
- Park along Rumsey Road. Please do not park in or block the driveway. Please do try to park along Peter's side of the road as large farm machines do occasionally need to use the road, and they can't get by otherwise.
- The interior of the house is off-limits, except kitchen crew, who may require minimal use the kitchen facilities for food preparation and associated tasks (although the bulk of this will occur at the cider house); and emergencies.
Directions To Ale Campsite

The Ale camp is based, as in past years, at Peter Hoover's farm, just south-west of Trumansburg, NY.

Off Site Accommodations

We have plenty of space on-site, but for the camping-impaired we offer a selection of bed and breakfasts that are within 10 minutes of the campsite. We encourage those who don't wish to camp on-site to make their reservations for these as soon as possible, as the Finger Lakes are a prominent tourist destination in the summertime.
